Trucknews.com reported today that an organized group was arrested for freight thefts in the GTA. Unfortunately we’ve heard of this before.
Using a rental or a stolen truck, a thief will attend a commercial dock. They will report they are from a commonly know carrier, or carrier they have seen at that dock before. Often, they are loaded with a ready shipment and head off with their now stolen goods.
With every Champion shipment, our Ops team will respond with a Champion reference number. We encourage all of our shippers to demand this number (or any reference number, PO#, BOL# Etc) from drivers picking up. This ensures the driver we dispatched is the one being loaded.
